Some sins you carry around forever.

It wasn't half bad. A little weird looking, but yeah... Not half bad. The wine was good. The advice was even better. Thanks, Chef.

Sure way to insult a guy. Make disparaging comments about his masculinity. And that whole sports thing... Don't think I didn't see the way you eyed that basketball. I bet you even picked it up. Come on, Bones. You can admit it. It's not just a "warrior" thing. It's about having fun.

Enjoyed "The Plain in the Prodigy". I'm enjoying watching Booth try and figure out just who he is. It's not necessarily a reinvention of the character but perhaps a look at what's the most important in his life? The conversation about the belt buckle was classic. "It's ... Boothy." The music was lovely and I think accurately conveyed the sadness attached to the whole situation. Called the fingers in the piano lid. Totally missed the "wrong place at the wrong time". The ending was kind of a shock. Most of the episodes give you evidence and lead you to a logical ending based on those clues. Not quite this one. Left me thinking "What a terrible waste". And note to self after watching more past episodes: Cam calls Booth by his first name all the time. It's not anything out of the ordinary.

There's an article in the latest Smithsonian (October 2009) titled "Teaching Cops to See: Amy Herman uses art to sharpen police officers' observation skills". Fascinating read. I'm not an art buff. But the concept of using classical paintings to teach officers to better communicate and observe is awesome. The geek in me would love to see Sweets send Booth and Bones to one of these classes.

I didn't believe her when she said it. I'm still not sure I believe it. I mean, who listens to psychics anyway? What's in the cards? Anybody can stack a deck. Make it what you want. When I was in my coma, I was happy. Really happy. Like the "nothing can possibly go wrong" kind of happy. The kind of happy that stays with you when the world throws you curveballs kind of happy. The kind of happy that comes with loving someone. And being loved in return. I want it back. I want her back. But she was never really mine to begin with. Or was she?

She twirled. Bones. She... twirled.

Part of me hoped it was him too.

Sometimes there are no bad guys. Just victims.
Mon, Aug. 31st, 2009, 12:05 pm OOC: Kathy Reichs
I just picked up "Cross Bones" by Kathy Reichs from the library. It's pretty obvious that Tempe and Ryan are the two inspirations for the main characters of "Bones" but they're different enough that I've had to stop drawing comparisons. Otherwise, I expect the characters to behave in a certain way and when they don't, I'm either disappointed or... jarred. The literary character of Dr. Brennan is far more people savvy than her TV counterpart. Ryan, a homicide detective for the Montreal Police Department, seems mellow and oddly enough more self assured than Booth, the TV character modeled after him. He lacks however the dialog that makes Booth so fun to watch and role play. The book is written in first person from Brennan's point of view and offers many brief insights into the field of forensic anthropology. The basic premise of this mystery: What if Jesus didn't actually die on the cross?

Sometimes sparks fly. Sometimes you just chase the embers. Old flames sometimes become just "old friends". Some old flames you let die. Some you kindle whether you realize it or not. Some are taken away on the wind. My gut said let Cam take the case. I very rarely ignore my instincts. I'm glad I didn't on this one. I don't know what kind of closure she may have found but today I saw something special. A family reunited. Michelle's a good kid. She'll take good care of Cam. That's what kids do, you know. Love and keep their parents.
Thu, Jul. 30th, 2009, 12:41 pm Apple Pie Is Heaven-Sent
Special Agent Seeley Booth is having his dessert first. In front of him on the table is a two portion helping of apple pie. Why have one when you can have two? If he has room when he finishes, their might be a burger in the works. If not, the pie will do. Do just fine. The time is 11:45. He beat the lunch crowd.

Baggage isn't all that different than luggage. No, it's not the meds talking. Stay with me here. Baggage. You drag it along behind you. It's cumbersome. Inconvenient. Most of the time it's not well maintained. So it gets uglier the longer you have it. You don't want anybody to see it. Because you're ashamed of it. You drop your luggage after a trip though. And I just had one hell of a trip. I guess that means I'm allowed to let it go. Parker was right about one thing. I'm never getting my deposit back. That tux is toast. And being in the hospital is better than being dead.
